Outsourcing can expand capacity, but the client still holds the agency accountable. A partner should be judged on the actual workflow: who clarifies scope, builds pages, tests them, and responds when a defect appears.
Check the real path
- Run a small paid trial with an agreed brief and acceptance checklist.
- Confirm who writes copy, supplies assets, handles revisions, and manages client communication.
- Inspect mobile layouts, accessibility basics, forms, analytics, and handover on the trial site.
- Put confidentiality, attribution, ownership, and post-launch responsibilities in writing.
Decide what to change
A portfolio and promise of availability do not prove reliable delivery. Use a trial and written process, then decide whether the margin and schedule still work for the agency.
Put it in the project brief
Before paying for a fix, ask the provider to name the affected page or workflow, the change they will make, how they will test it, and which dependencies or exclusions could change the estimate. Keep the baseline and the completed test so both sides can see what improved.
